Indian state turns arms into agricultural tools
-
In an initiative launched in the small town of Muzaffarpur, some 80
kilometers from the Bihar state capital Patna, local metal workers are
being commissioned to transform some 60,000 illegal weapons into
agricultural farming tools such as hoes, spades and hedge-clippers.
According
to Abhyanand, Bihar's director-general of police, who started the
program, these tools will assist thousands of less advantaged farmers
while conveying a message of security for all residents.
He stated, "The farming tools made from life-threatening arms will now produce food grains which will feed the hungry."
Our
hats off, Director-general Abhyanand, other officials and all
participating in these creative measures of peace. May your actions be
emulated by governments throughout India and other lands for global
dignity and harmony to prevail.
